If you are on pc and using Razers surround sound 7.1 it messes with the audio whether its on or off. Uninstalling it worked for me.

Oh thanks, but you can just turn it off, not uninstall.

For anyone having this problem on Xbox, go to Settings -> Ease of Access -> Audio and then turn on mono output. That fixed the problem for me.

Open the Microsoft overlay (Windows + G) and change The sound output from the surround sound speaker option to whatever your regular headphone output is.

Interesting  now I must ask, is this issue only accruing for this game in particular or applies to all games?. Have you tried to uninstall clear cache then hard restart to re install.
