How Much Does Central Dispatch Pay Per Car

  1. I am wondering what are some of the typical rates on Central Dispatch for mid/small cars on cross country runs from East Coast to West Coast and back.

I do not have my authority anymore so just want to keep tabs on spot market rates for autohaul. I am currently doing stepdeck work but may want to switch back to car hauling if pay is good.

  3. From what I see cross country is still crap, now short hops on the other hand seem to have gone up, jmho
  4. Mostly still crap, good ones are far and few.
  5. I am currently running 3 from Pa to Ut/Nv. In Topeka, Ks for the night. Its not coast to coast, but its close. 2 paying .48 pm and the 3rd .67 pm, for a total of 1.67 pm. Total miles-2720 Total pay for the 3, $3850.00 or actual pm for the 3, 1.42 pm minus about .67 pm for expenses...fuel, maintenance, insurance, food, etc... Looking at the pm on the back haul, I won't get to 1.42 pm...:( Hope this helps...Later, PK
  6. Wow, how in the hell can you make that work???
  7. Hauling only 3 cars might not be ideal for long haul. With those rates, a 8 or 9 car hauler may be decent money. I remember 2 years back, it was hard to get .40+ per mile on cross country runs and most were paying .35 per mile, or $800 to $1200 per small/mid car east to west. A few hundred less comming back to eastcoast.

Will broker freight on Central Dispatch pay $1200 to $1500 per small/mid car from east coast to west coast ? Can this rate be sustainable going with brokered rates ? I know for a fact that direct shipment pay more but how about posts from Central.

    Thanks for replies..

  8. If you want all your vehicles to pickup and deliver close to each other, they'll be dirt cheap. Good paying ones are on there but they won't be close to anything. I only haul 6 cars due to the Pacific northwest's length laws so even with the cherry picking cars it's nothing bragging worthy after coming back east.

Rates still have a ways to go I'm my opinion, as I'm thinking about hooking up to box for a while. Sadly these brokers are clueless about why rates a finally starting to raise. There's no way general freight brokers are worse then these car brokers.

  9. If you are going to haul coast to coast my advice would be to short hop, maybe reload every 1000 miles or so, east coast to michigan/indiana, then load to texas/ok/ks/omaha then load west from there, it's definitely a lot more dispatch work and it MAY be out of reach for a one man show, but you would definitely see a better cpm ratio.
  10. I thought about that as well, but I think you would take twice as long to get from coast to coast dropping off and picking up so many vehicles, unless they were all in the same spot.
